Questions about Sword and Axes
Hello, I've searched the forums for some of my questions but could not find the answers. Forgive me if I've missed them, but here are some questions I have about the tools of warriors.
Do all swords have the same attack speed?
How do Warriors that utilize Vampiric Swords deal with the -1 health regen?
Are sundering Swords and Axes worth considering when a top priority is high Damage per Second? (like in PvE)
Optional: What are the coolest looking swords and axes?
Thank so much

a) yes all swords have the same attack speed!
b) they use it to attack (so they regain the hitpoints back on attacking) and if they don't attack, they just switch to another weapon. Some may use vigorous spirit or live vicaverously
c) absolutely not, calculations have proved that the +3 lifestealing damage far outweighs the profit of a max sundering mod. Also many ppl prefer zealous and furious upgrades, so they can use more spells more often (to do more dmg throug power attacks)
the coolest looking is personal:
Most ppl prefer crystalline swords and fellblades, Sickles and Serpent axes.
I like the longsword and sickles best, I like fiery dragon swords too (tough they have a weak point, you cannot change the hilt )

GW is quite different from Diable which a certain sword type is better (e.g. King's bastard sword of Haste)
The Sword Type in GW is un-important as long as u DONT care the look.
a max dmg (15-22) short sword works in the same way as a max dmg Long Sword.
For which weapon is better,
pls do a search in this forum, there are plenty of material discussing the in-depth issue (from skill, damage, build)

I agree with Pearhk, and I would like to add: A sword deals more consistent damage (15-22 middle 18.5)
An axe deals more crit damage, but can also have very low dmg results. (6-28 middle 17) and the average is a bit lower than on swords. So a wild blow hits better with an axe than with a sword, and very hard with a hammer ^_^
As for swords: Ice dragon sword and Fiery dragon sword are arguably worse than all other swords, for they have an unchangable hilt (which means that you cant make a fiery dragon sword zealous or vampiric, sundering or furious)

I use mending (lv8 healing +3hp reg) when I equipped vamp sword or axe. After the -1 hp, I will still have +2 hp reg.
To me, the good looking depends on what armor you are wearing...
I have 15k platemail and gladiator armor. I think only fellblade, long sword, FDS, IDS, Sephis, and Sickle look good with platemail set. Gladiator set is good with any kind of sword or axe.

depends , if your going enchanted always then 15% while enchanted is best , same with stances 15% (stance) so it does depend but realy the truly best dmg mod is 15% -5 energy

Most warriors in PvE don't really care as much as you'd think about damage per second. I can counter any argument to this with two words. Healing Prayers.
PvP is another story. Warriors are often low-priority targets due to thier high armor, and the HoD helm. PvP warriors are the ones who care about DPS. Heck, they'll even use Frenzy, you wouldn't catch a PvE war doing that.
As for sundering, No, it isn't worth it. This topic has been brought up frequently, and many calculations using basic math will show it's uslessness. Despite all that, the general public has some unholy love for the mod. I have no idea why, but the prices are higher for a 10/10 sundering than any other mod.
If you want to deal more damage, Vampiric is a good option. With an attack speed boost, you can actualy gain health from using just the weapon. Some very rough calculations suggest that if you're attacking a warrior, the biggest damage boost you can get is by simply not using a physical damage weapon.
Just how much damage does sundering add? Just take a look at the numbers in this post http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...03&postcount=7 Keep in mind that those are critical hits, with 15 strength.

As far as utilization of vapiric, just switch swords when you aren't using it.
